Biography
A graduate of fine arts, as well as self taught. The collective works I have to my credit are one woman shows, gallery showings, public art, private collections, commissions, and fine art museums. Including numerous awards. A few of my designs were featured in Coldwater Creek catalogs. My showings include the Philadelphia Flower Show, Long Beach Museum of Art, Salt Lake City 'Finch Lane Gallery', AAUW "Diversity of Women" Utah Cultural Center, 'Rio Gallery' Salt Lake City, and others to numerous to list.
My experience has been with clay & paper sculpture, silk painting, watercolor, pen, graphite, pastel pencil, acrylic, and oils. I have been an artist since the age of two (although not proficient at that time), I knew it was my destiny. The many occasions, as a teen, I would sculpt or paint until the early hours of the morning. My father would find me lying limp by my artwork...wake me, scold me for my nocturnal endeavors, knowing he would repeat this ritual, as I would be there again.
Financial stability may elude an artist, but the passion is nevertheless priceless. Visual art feeds my soul. Everything in life we as artists experience, becomes the journey to express it. Those experiences shape our perceptions, and our creations just as those whom interpret our art.
I am endlessly searching for artistic endeavors that satisfy my curiosity and allow me
to express my concept, by incorporating textures, bold colors, and lines that blend into a composition. Many of my works come from a special moment I have experienced. The challenge is to translate this emotion into my artwork and create a similar emotion for the viewer. For me, visual art is inspiration to attain an understanding of life, and in doing so, I encourage the viewers to explore my compositions for what the perception represents for them. The next challenge for me is to combine these forms that are recognizable, yet a distortion of shapes that may transcend into more than one subject, ultimately this will convey an emotion that the viewer will identify with and in them find a revelation, insight, or amusement. These are my triumphs, and seem to be by far my most successful.
Original art nourishes and enriches our lives, and our surroundings with personality
and ambience. Personality is vacant in reproductions. My hope is to enrich your environment. I create original art to satisfy my search....and in the hope you will connect with, enjoy my work and the journey with me.
I invite you to come back often and browse the new pieces I create, and become fascinated enough to adopt one or many. Please share my site with family and friends.
